El Plata Cabaret opened its doors in 1920. In those days, it was a ritzy concert hall, with a casino and a restaurant.
In 1943 it became a cabaret following a trend that was all the rage in Europe. It closed its doors in 1992 and reopened in 2008 keeping the decor and many of the elements that had made its fame from the beginning. Film director Bigas Luna took the artistic direction and gave it back the spirit and the identity from its cabaret heyday with a more Iberian touch.
